After sex video session with wife, Ahmad Maslan turns to Anwar

Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan, slammed for a smut session with his wife over the sex video implicating Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, said Anwar was free to bring in his own foreign experts to determine whether the tape is authentic or has been doctored.

"Ahmad is just doing what the police are doing. They have nothing more to squeeze from the tape except play cat and mouse with the identity of the man in it. What they are trying desperately to hide is why the police have not arrested the Datuk T trio? Is it because the men are from Umno?" PKR vice president Tian Chua told Malaysia Chronicle.

"What business is it of Ahmad whether Anwar sues the Datuk T trio or not? It is shameful enough for Umno when Ahmad who is their info chief thinks nothing of telling the whole nation he watched a porn tape with his wife. Can we ask, did he enjoy it?"

Ahmad had proposed that Anwar sue businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, who had taken an oath in a mosque, for defaming him. Shazryl and two others, namely former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik and Perkasa treasurer Shuaib Lazim, had 'discovered' the tape and illegally screened it to a group of journalists and select PKR leaders in a bid to discredit Anwar.

"The video has been verified (as authentic) by experts from the United States and South Korea. The South Koreans verified it first followed by the Americans, (meaning that) police have double checked and confirmed that the video is authentic," Bernama reported Ahmad as saying.

80 lashes for slander, Ahmad

Ahmad also urged police to reveal the identity of the "performer" in the video and charge him in court. The Umno leader also called for a Royal Commission of Inquiry which he said could clear the confusion over the video conspiracy.

But not once did he call on the police to speed up their investigations, arrest and charge the Datuk T trio, who committed a crime by screening the tape.

Muslim leaders have condemned the sex video conspiracy, widely believed to have been hatched by the Umno elite to smear Anwar ahead of the general elections.

"What the investigation shows is that it is an authentic pornography video. It does not prove that Anwar Ibrahim is in that video," Kota Raja MP Siti Mariah Mahmud had told Malaysia Chronicle.

"This means that the Datuk T trio are criminals and are now guilty of distributing and displaying pornography. The police should deal with them now. There should be no excuses or delay."

The PAS leader also urged the authorities to raise the matter at the Syariah or Islamic court since the main protagonists involved were all Muslims.

"In Islam, if someone who claim to have witnessed 'zina' (adultery) without at least 4 other witnesses, he or she can be whipped 80 times so it is a heavy offense," Siti said.

But oblivious to religion, Ahmad continued his tirade against Anwar's PKR party. PKR leaders plan to protest against unfair and seditious news reports published with impunity by Umno mouthpiece Utusan.

"They don't seem to understand press freedom. The demonstration is the work of cowards. Utusan has a right and a responsibility to give its views on issues that occupy the community. Other newspapers too have their own approach (to issues)," said Ahmad.

He is the latest Umno leader to defend Utusan's controversial report on a purported Christian conspiracy to turn Malaysia into a Christian state. The unsubstantiated report created a ruckus and deep unhappiness amongst the Christians in the country.
