"Rasuah berleluasa kerana pemimpin tetap diberi sokongan walaupun tetap terbabit," - Tun Mahathir

Demikian penegasan Dr. Dzulkifli Ahmad, pagi tadi, apabila ditanya untung rugi memilih calon Pakatan Zulkefli Mohamad Omar atau calon Umno Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.

"Rasuah berleluasa kerana pemimpin tetap diberi sokongan walaupun tetap terbabit," tegas Mahathir.

PAS to seek court order to postpone polls

"This afternoon we will meet the Election Commission to demand a clean-up of the electoral roll,"

"If the EC does not do so we will not hesitate to take legal action, we will get our legal team to seek a court injunction to postpone polling,"

PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub

UPDATED

By Adib Zalkapli
PORT DICKSON, Oct 7 — Alleging that hundreds of postal voters are also ordinary registered voters, PAS today said it will seek a court order to postpone polling for the Bagan Pinang by-election scheduled for this Sunday.

Speaking to reporters at the media briefing today, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub said the party will first meet the Election Commission (EC) this afternoon.

"This afternoon we will meet the Election Commission to demand a clean-up of the electoral roll," he said.

"If the EC does not do so we will not hesitate to take legal action, we will get our legal team to seek a court injunction to postpone polling," he added.

Salahuddin (picture) said the party has discovered the existence of what he described as dubious voters in the electoral roll for quite some time.

"We have brought up this matter for years, since the formation of Bersih, and in various meetings with EC, but no action has been taken," he said when asked why PAS was only taking action now.

Another PAS vice-president, Datuk Mahfuz Omar, cited a Bernama report quoting the president of the ex-servicemen’s association, Datuk Muhammad Abdul Ghani, who urged retired soldiers who have yet to change their status to ordinary voters to return to Bagan Pinang if they are still registered as postal voters in the constituency.

"So the issue here is, are the retired soldiers going to come back to vote or somebody else will vote for them?" asked Mahfuz.

PAS had previously claimed that 70 per cent of the postal voters in Bagan Pinang are retired servicemen.

Some 4,600 of the more than the 13,000 voters in the Bagan Pinang state constituency are members of the security forces.

The postal voters, traditionally a safe vote bank for Barisan Nasional (BN), will vote tomorrow while ordinary voters will go to the polls on Sunday.

PKR man in Sarawak to form new party

malaysianmirror

KUCHING - A Sarawak PKR leader and state assemblyman for Ngemah Gabriel Adit is forming a new party known as Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia.

A group led by Adit will be meeting in Sibu today to announce the formation of the party and its pro tem office bearers.

It is reliably learnt that the party will be launched on Oct 15.

Adit (right) joined PKR early this year at a rousing gathering in Sibu which was attended by PKR top guns including its supremo Anwar Ibrahim. It is not known why Adit has changed his mind about PKR and decided to form a new party.

Sng, Tiong involved?

Sources told the Malaysian Mirror that Adit has been contacting a number of ex-PBDS members to join the group, but many have declined as they were unsure of those behind the formation of the new party.

Rumours have been rife that former Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) deputy president Sng Chee Hua is involved in the new party to pave the way for his son, Larry Sng, the state assemblyman for Pelagus, to join it later.

An assistant minister in the Chief Minister’s Office, Larry has been partyless since he was sacked from PRS two years ago.

Speculation is also rife that Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party treasurer and the MP for Bintulu, Tiong King Sing (left) could be among the prime movers of the new party. No reason is given as to why Tiong is involved.

There are also rumours that some PBB leaders are behind the formation of the new party in order to stop Dayaks from joining PKR.

The former president of the defunct PBDS Daniel Tajem has denied any involvement and has advised his former colleagues to be wary.

"Things are too fluid now," he said.

Sarawak PKR disappointed

In a story headlined ‘Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia to rival PKR?’ today, the Borneo Post quoted Sarawak PKR information chief See Chee How as saying that “the group forming the party should not be considered a PKR breakaway group” although he did not deny the possibility that certain PKR leaders were involved.

"We have heard about Pakatan Rakyat Malaysia too and that they are going to be launched in the middle of this month. We have heard that some PKR leaders are also involved. If this is true, of course we will be disappointed," he said.

See would not confirm claims that the chairman of the new party is currently a senior leader in Sarawak PKR.

The paper said that the group was deliberately formed under the name PRM to prevent Pakatan Rakyat, the opposition alliance spearheaded by PKR, from officially registering their name with the Registrar of Societies.

PKFZ probe : Tiong’s assets frozen

themalaysianinsider

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Several more properties and assets belonging to embattled Kuala Dimensi chief executive Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and worth millions of ringgit, including a luxury jet, have been frozen by the police.

The police are believed to have invoked a section of the Anti-Money Laundering Act to freeze the properties owned by Tiong.

Sources said the order to freeze the assets and property was served on Tiong yesterday as part of police investigations into alleged irregularities in the development of the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) transhipment hub.

Kuala Dimensi, the turnkey contractor for the construction of PKFZ, has been sued by the new management of the Port Klang Authority, which owns PKFZ.

Tiong, who is MP for Bintulu and treasurer-general of the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party, will be allowed to use the aircraft and some of his assets, but he cannot sell or lease them to anyone, pending the investigations.

PKFZ was built to attract new investments to Malaysia, but it has been dogged by controversy over the price paid for the land used for the project, a massive cost overrun and management issues.

The scandal looms as the biggest challenge to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's administration, as it appears to implicate top-level politicians, including former ministers and Umno politicians. — The Straits Times

Papan tanda 'BN Zalim' diturunkan
