An UMNO leader has openly revealed that he had watched pornography, in what is a desperate attempt to built credibility around the sex video saga sparked by Datuk T.
Deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Maslan , who is also the UMNO information chief, gave the public a glimpse of their habit when he admitted that he had watched the pornographic clip which featured a man resembling Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.
“I have seen the video and believe that Anwar Ibrahim is in the video. Yes, I watched it with my wife,” Ahmad was quoted as saying by an online news portal.
While such admissions would have earned a rebuke from the country's religious scholars and muftis, it was DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara member of parliament Tony Pua who expressed his disgust.
“I find it amusing that top leaders in UMNO can't wait to announce to press that they've watched the video. I didn't and I'm proud of it,” he responded on Twitter.
The pornographic clip was first revealed to the public by the UMNO trio comprising of former Melaka chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik Datuk T, Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, and Shuib Lazim Abdul Rahim. They have yet to brought to court for the charge of possessing and distributing pornographic material despite their admission.
Several installments of the clip have been available on the internet, with many individuals claiming they received discs containing the full clip on their post from Thailand addresses.
Muslim and other religious leaders have condemned attempts to use pornography to target political leaders. They include UMNO's Young Islamic Scholars secretariat, Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, who recently appealed party members not to resort to such unIslamic tactics.
