The UMNO Malay are using the term bumiputera to gain business quota. The UMNO Malay could not even care less that the term bumiputera includes the natives of Sabah and Sarawak. Why should they malaya Malay care?
The Dayak politicians are participating in BN and the Dayak voted for BN because BN has drilled into the Dayak that BN would bring progress to Dayak. We all know that till today such promise has not been met by BN.
The Dayak YBs has been bribed and bought by Ketuanan Melayu. The Malay has NO feeling what so ever over the lack of development for the Dayak both physical and mental. The lack of education among Dayak is not helping out to hasten the change. By the time the Dayak realize what is going on Dayak would have been the poorest community in Malaysia.
The Dayak YBs felt that they are doing their best
What is their best – do anyone of you know it. In Sarawak if the Dayak do not participate in forming he government that government would have no standing. Some dayak YBs choose to be bought and get rich rather then to stand for Dayak rights. Are we running the Dayak leaders down? In a way we are because they have not shown any effectiveness in improving the livelihood of the Dayak within SARAWAK.
Hey, why blame the YB. The YB are frustrated with Dayak who cannot even pull themselves together and be able to initiate small things to help themselves. Why bother with “monkey” Dayak – it is better to get rich personally through political position and connection. Let the Dayak with helpless mentality be where they are as they choose to be.
The fault lies with ourselves
Not many Dayakbaru would even part with their money to contribute towards building a Dayak college. Dayak do not see contributing money to Dayak cause a priority. The educated Dayak – many who earn big salary may not part with their money.We did not realize that we have a “behavior and thinking” that we always expect others to do things for us. We seldom take it upon ourselves to take responsibility to bring progress to our community through Dayak organization.
We always think that those people who are asking for donation to help dayak NGO programs are going to CHEAT us. We simply do not feel for the effort of other Dayak who is trying to help the community. That is selfish – ego centric attitude which will be a major hindrance to our community progress.
Dayak land rights and lossess
Look at the plight of Tr. Nor. Some even argued that because BN pull down the long house it is the government responsibility to help them rebuild their long house. That is “helpless” thinking. It is helpless because we cannot begin to learn to help ourselves as a community. We live in big community but we do not know how to develop the community to be more effective and successful.
What we can do is to come positively forward to assist with any material means. Knowing that we are not close to Tr. Nor, how many of you contributed to the fund. I have the figures but if needed be I would disclosed the amount.
If Dayakbaru cannot part with $10.00 and give a million excuses for such money to be given to help Dayak cause – Dayakbaru helpless mentality in itself is the cause of Dayak failure. We identify unity as an important factor for our community to succeed but we as individual could not deliver our own commitment. That is sad but true.
We cannot wait to be told to donate. We must take the land issue and the oppression by the government seriously. Now, i do not wonder why BN is always winning despite so many Dayak disagreeing with unjust government policy. We are too helpless to help ourselves – urban Dayak included.
To Dayak donating money – is taboo.
Everytime a Dayak donate money heis first thought is someone is going to cheat him of his money. Therefor any effort to bring together the creation of fund for any Dayak cause is doom to fail. Giving out money for a cause is so painful to Dayak. They give you $10.00 today, the Dayak will expect the result tomorrow and remember the donation for years to come. Most educated Dayak are the same in their mentality. This is where Change WE Must. But if it giving to the church that is quite acceptable but any program to help out Dayak NGO initiative would not touch the soul of Dayak.
Why is this Dr. sounded very angry
I am totally disappointed with the attitude of many Dayaks. We wanted the SKY but we cannot even give out $0.10cents. That speaks loud and clear with our ability to understand that in order to progress we must know how to invest. Investing in community project and financing ourselves to work for community NGO is like the holy grail for dayak – including Dayakbaru.
If educated Dayak with stable income cannot part with $10.00 per year to support dayak NGO community program that would be a major problem that we must change in ourselves.
Dayak Community College Fund
Let me begin by saying that a Community College owned and run by Dayak – in the name of Sarawak Dayak National Union is proposed, how many of you would agree that the college is important for Dayak. If you feel that it is important to Dayak – would you contribute to SDNU Dayak College Fund?
I do not want to see your money. I want to see your pledge to the fund. You can pledge to the fund by writing to dayakbaru@gmail.com. State the amount that you would give – BUT send NO MONEY. We do not have license or approval to collect public money. I want to see your pledge NOT your money yet. I want to see how many of you take the trouble to write an email to pledge. If the initial pledge reach $100,000.00 (One Hundred thousand only) then I can see hope to push forward for the project to start a Dayak Community college.
What detail do you need to know before you pledge?
There is no detail of the plan. I wanted to know whether it is even worth to start working on the plan with such a project. If we cannot pledge / promise to donate a certain amount – we will get much less money. Do you think Dayakbaru should wait for the government to donate to us some money first before we can have a Dayak college?
I want to see changes in our commitment to something to be translated to action. We want to cahnge the government but we did not take the trouble to register ourselves as voters. We feel strongly about improving the life of dayak in the long house but we do not do anything – run any program, have a plan to educate the rural folks on issues – we wait for others to do the work for us. Is that a winning mentality – it is not.
Involvement in Dayak NGO
“Lak ke kita meh dulu”. Let others join the NGO first. Do you know the meaning of your own words. It is simple. I am not prepare / not willing to contribute to the Dayak to do work and contribute to Dayak community. We have to take some responsibility upon ourselves to help move bthe Dayak community forward.
Helping the community is not limited to politics only. We must be involved in community development through participation in NGOs and personal initiative. We need to see beyond the front door of our home and make it a point to contribute to improve our community through any means practicable to you.
Dayak inability to participate in community work and lack of interest to be part of Dayak NGO work is some of the key reason why we are not progressing well.
LOOK AT THE MIRROR – and say I want to make that change for Dayak progress. Do it!
