'Don't forget that those born in the 1980s will be eligible to vote in the next election. They are the basis of our hope for freedom from BN and Taib Mahmud's hegemony.'
Pakatan unable to challenge BN in S'wak : PM
Ordinary Sarawakian: Don't be so sure, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. Don't forget that those born in the 1980s will be eligible to vote in the next election. These young Sarawakians are the basis of our hope for freedom from BN and Taib Mahmud's hegemony.
They get their news from the Internet and alternative media and from their friends and peers working abroad or in Semenanjung because they can't earn a living in their own home state.
Just because you go on flying visits and throw around a few shallow goodies, you think your fixed deposit seats of Sarawak are secure?
Sam Chong: Maybe Najib has a point in being so confident. Due to years of neglect by the BN, many people, especially in the rural areas, do not have basic infrastructure like tarred roads, piped water, 24-hour electricity and good communication infrastructure. Therefore they do not have access to alternative media; they don't know what the true picture is (out of their districts).
Unless the splinter opposition parties work together and forget their own selfish interests, it is possible that the uninformed rakyat (which comprises the majority) in Sarawak will continue to be deceived and vote BN.
SusahKes: 'Asked whether Sarawak chief minister Taib Mahmud had discussed with him the date of the upcoming election, Najib broke out in laughter and said, 'Even if I discussed (it), I will never tell you.''
In what appears to be a clear signal that the daily pressures of the No 1 Office is getting to him, Najib fell into a laughter when asked a serious question.
