Let The Fun Begin In Batang Ai

LUBOK ANTU, Marach 27(Bernama)-- If one visits Lubok Antu town now, it pays to stay on the right side of the law because this rustic border town is swarming with cops, in plain clothes and uniforms. An informed source said there are about 800 of the men in blue all over the place. There are also many civil servants coming from all over the state and an unusually strong media presence here, all for just one thing -- the Batang Ai state by-election.The tussle for the seat is expected to be between the Barisan Nasional, through its component, Parti Rakyat Sarawak(PRS), and the opposition Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) although an independent is also keen to join the fray.Nomination is on Sunday and polling on April 7 should there be a contest but the PKR campaigners have yet to make their presence felt. For now, the BN is in control, its members crisscrossing the 1,341 sq km of Batang Ai, a constituency of 22,270 people but only 8006 of whom are registered voters, a figure confirmed yesterday by the Election Commission. The BN is counting on Malcolm Mussem Lamoh, 49, an engineer, to defend the seat and deliver it as "a gift form the state Iban community to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the new Umno president and eventually the new prime minister."PKR, which is making its debut in this Dayak-majority seat, is banking on veteran and one of the most vocal Iban politicians, Jawah Gerang, 56, a five-term former BN parliamentarian, to deliver. The independent who has expressed his intention to contest is Johnny Chuat, an Iban portal owner and part-time Iban education activist. An interesting part of the campaigning now is through the Internet where a dozen or more weblogs are dedicated to the cause. On the ground, if there is one overwhelming issue from PKR, it is the need to change the current government. Its "Give Change A Chance" slogan is contagious, especially among the younger voters. The current state government has been said to be unsympathetic to the Ibans in terms of its land policy and education and civil service opportunities while current Iban leaders in the cabinet are demonised to be ineffective lackeys.A PKR source said its machinery was just warming up with Jawah at the helm, assisted by Lubok Antu PKR division chairman Nicholas Bawin.Carrying the flag for the BN are PRS president Datuk Sri Dr James Jemut Masing, his deputy Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun, information chief Datuk Joseph Salang and Lubok Antu MP William Nyalau. So far, Mussem has been a silent observer at the numerous meet-the-people sessions, preferring to leave it to deputy Chief Minister Tab Sri Alfred Jabu, who was constantly with him, to speak his mind on why the Ibans, who are the majority voters here (98 per cent) and in Sarawak, should keep the faith and confidence with the BN.Salang said changing the state government was a PKR mission impossible in view that the BN held 63 of the 71 seats in the state with DAP holding six and PKR and an independent, one each.Even if PKR won Batang Ai, the BN would still have 62 seats, he said, adding: "PKR should concentrate on the next state election, about two years away, where and when the stakes are even higher."To PKR, although it may be just a by-election, winning Batang Ai is just as crucial as it is the first assault in its battle to sign up the Ibans, and eventually the other Dayak communities, in its national political agenda. So, with accommodation becoming a big problem now, from Sri Aman town 83km away to Betong town as the nomination day approaches, those men in blue are resorting to camping out while the civil servants pack their offices to the brim or are renting any available places.

"Nazri's Son Was Behind the Murder of Darren Kang Tien Hua" in 2004

And here we have the rumored murderer of Darren Kang with a few of his friends, just look at the really thuggish one on the far left.
Wow, you learn something new everyday. Got an interesting tip few days ago claiming that the son of minister Nazri was involved in the murder of Sheffield University law student Darren Kang Tien Hua. It was not looked into, then a second tip came in with the same accusation a few days later with the added claim that witness came forward the night of the killing but later stop talking after they realize who the murder was related to. So I searched news articles from Malaysia in 2004 and what you know, the son of a Malaysian minster was on the murder scene of Darren Kang. The Star article did not mention the minster by name but the article does seem to backup the tipsters.

Hujah suara baru Harakah

" LAWAN TETAP LAWAN "

Khir Toyo salahkan publisiti isu BALKIS, punca tewas Ketua Pemuda

aiii.. toyo, takkan takdak angin pokok bergoyang..

KUALA LUMPUR: Vanquished contender for the Umno Youth chief’s post, Datuk Seri Mohamad Khir Toyo, has attributed his loss to the bad publicity that he received over the issue of the Wives of Selangor Assemblymen and MPs Welfare and Charity Organisation (Balkis).
Dr Khir said there were delegates who had changed their minds and voted for his fellow contenders after hearing of the Pakatan Rakyat state government’s continuous claims that Balkis had misused funds meant for charity and welfare when the state was under Barisan Nasional.
The state government had also claimed that Dr Khir, who was then the Mentri Besar, and his wife Datin Seri Zahrah Kechik, the then Balkis chairman, were involved in the misuse of the funds.
“Even though I have been investigated and cleared by the police, the state government’s raising of the issue during the recent state assembly sitting caused confusion among some of the delegates,” he told reporters.
Dr Khir, however, said that he accepted his loss as a decision made by the delegates and congratulated Khairy Jamaluddin on being elected the new Umno Youth chief. He said it was now time to move on and hoped that Khairy would work hard and bring about changes and improvements he had promised during the campaign for the Umno elections.

Shahrir letak jawatan menteri

“I always believe we have to introduce new blood, new talent. I think it is not fair (to be reappointed twice). “In 2004, I was appointed. Then, I also contested and lost. No matter how good you are, there is always someone better than you,” he said.

" bijak-bijak.. tau takper.. blah ah.. "

I am not very interested (to continue as Minister). The responsibilities should be given to someone else as with this post, you can really help the people. If I do not step aside, then someone is deprived of a golden opportunity . “One year is enough. I have done my part in the one year I held this post. When I came in, inflation was skyrocketing but it is all right for now. Even the price of chicken has come down,” he said.

"is it enough? Chicken price? "

“I am not certain how to answer. It has also confounded me. I cannot explain, especially when they are from states that had been able to garner the support of the people during the last election,” he said.

" so... dont explain, dont answer.. balik kampung tanam jagung.. for your domestic trade at kampung.. "

Sarawak Baby Die Neglected By Drunk Parents

A baby boy, less than a month old, starved to death after his parents allegedly forgot to feed him because they were too drunk. The baby died in the intensive-care unit of Miri Hospital yesterday morning and a police report has been lodged.
Police now want to question the parents, in their early 30s from a longhouse in southern Sarawak, who came to Miri to work and were renting a house at a low-cost housing scheme near the Sarawak-Brunei Highway, some 12km north of the city centre.
Relatives found the baby unconscious in the house and rushed him to the hospital at about 3am on Wednesday. Miri deputy OCPD Supt Ismail Paduka Idris confirmed that the baby died in the morning.
“We are investigating claims that the parents had indulged in a prolonged drinking spree and had neglected the baby.“Initial investigations show that the baby might have been so severely neglected that he suffered fatal consequences.“We want to find out whether this was due to carelessness,” Supt Ismail said. The couple also have a three-year-old daughter.

Taib Is a Very Sick Man

Taib is a very sick man. Not only does he suffer from colon cancer, but also cancer of the brain, cancer of the heart and cancer of the soul.Symptoms are greed, lust for power, aggrandisement, lying, egomania, megalomania, denial, grand scale kleptomania, deception, intolerance, anger, expensive tastes, waste, extravagance, unfeeling and uncaring, lack of conscience, ethics and principles, inhuman, habitual and chronic misgovernance, corruption and maladministration.New and more frightening symptoms are being discovered by the day. These are highly contagious diseases which have affected his entire family, henchmen and cronies and their families as well and will affect all those who come into contact with him and them.
Shake or kiss his hand and kowtow to him at your own peril.Shun him and all his family, henchmen and cronies and their families until this plague is removed from the face of Sarawak. The only known cure for this disease, known as corruptus debilitatus or debilitating corruption, is sincere repentance and restitution (return of all wealth stolen from Sarawak). However, in really chronic cases, denial of reality has already been so strongly engrained that they will refuse to accept any wrongdoing on their part, therefore denying themselves of cure.

Polis : Tiada Kompromi

Immature UMNO Youth

The PEMUDA Delegates have spoken and selected KJ to helm the UMNO wing. The implications of which not only speaks of PEMUDA's immaturity but may also herald the end of UMNO.

(Khairy is said to be anti-Malay culture and is not seen as a leader who will inspire Malays to become nationalists Malays. In the opposition grouping, Khairy is seen as a hurdle to their own Malaysian Nationalistic agenda. That makes Khairy the person to watch and the young leader that may become the deciding factor in the future of the Umno) by Ali Cordoba http://wfol.tv/index.php

The delegates have spoken and the results of the three UMNO wings are out. There were no surprises in the result for the Puteri and Wanita chiefs. As expected, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil won the Wanita Chief while Rosnah Abdul Rashid won the Puteri Chief. However, the big surprise for most was the choice of the Pemuda Chief. Many did not expect Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) to win the post, especially after being found guilty barely a week ago by the UMNO Disciplinary Board for money politics.Rumours have been running like wild fire since the results were announced that four figure persuasions were being offered in abundance even within the last hours before voting began.
However, this too could be a case of sour grapes as hundreds of MACC undercover personnel have been said to be stationed in and around PWTC throughout the duration of the UMNO assembly. However, if it is true, then the stand that UMNO made yesterday that whoever is caught indulging in money politics will be stripped off their elected post, even if found guilty after the convention, will be tested to its full seriousness. Why KJ’s win is such a controversy? On the surface it looks like Pemuda UMNO is finally following and not resisting the winds of change that is sweeping the nation. The trend of picking young, upward and mobile leaders is finally catching on in UMNO.
However, the circumstances surrounding KJ in the past year and especially recently makes him the least qualified candidate to be the face of change in UMNO, what more the catalyst. His conviction by the UMNO Disciplinary Board has big implications now that he is elected.
The messages that come with a guilty member being chosen to helm an UMNO wing is that firstly Pemuda UMNO is not serious about eradicating money politics.
What other message can the public have but this. If they are serious in stamping out money politics once and for all, what better way to start than to elect a leader that has not been found guilty of that very crime.
“It’s elementary,” as Holmes would tell Watson. However, Pemuda went contrary to that and elected KJ.Secondly, Pemuda UMNO is ‘kurang ajar’. Pemuda UMNO just showed their ‘kurang ajar’ or disrespect to the UMNO Diciplinary Board. This is a very senior and important board.
If their decisions are not followed, what is the point in establishing it in the first place? The Board has clearly made a decision and a clear one at that. Pemuda’s message is that the board’s decision is not only unimportant but flat wrong!
They basically disagree with the board’s decision. This can only mean that from now on, Pemuda will consider the Board’s decisions as redundant and irrelevant.Thirdly, Pemuda UMNO is immature in reading the ground swell of reality. Corruption is the single biggest public concern now. Pemuda UMNO just spat that concern into the wind.
As long as KJ is their chief, it will come to haunt them in many years to come. How can he be the poster boy in the fight against corruption especially by the opposition? What defense can Pemuda UMNO give when confronted by the fact that they are helmed by someone found guilty by his own party of corruption?Pemuda had an obvious choice in Mukhriz Mahathir. Among the three candidates, he is the only one that is perceived to be clean of money politics.
However in choosing KJ, it is just pure rebellion in the part of Pemuda. Are we to expect an anarchist Pemuda? It does look like it with the direction they have chosen to travel in right now. These are the three main messages that Pemuda has given by electing a guilty man to helm it.Such a reckless and irresponsible choice has blown any chance UMNO has in attracting the youth because even Pemuda is not serious in choosing a clean young leader. And the saddest thing that came out of this is that the future leaders of UMNO, which will come from the ranks of today’s Pemuda, condones corruption!
That is exactly how the public will read from this stubborn and immature choice.Remember, the fastest way for a tree to die is if it’s roots start to rot, and where lies UMNO’s roots but in Pemuda.
