Jabu Hits Out At Instigating Bloggers

Some bloggers are just out to “sabong” (instigate) the Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders to quarrel among themselves in the hope that the coalition would disunite and become weak, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu.
The deputy president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) said the bloggers had used innuendoes (hidden names) in their instigations.
“They are specialists in ‘sabong’ people,” said Jabu as he hit out at the bloggers who, according to him, acted blatantly at their whims and fancies, especially in the run-up to the Batang Ai by-election.
Of late these bloggers had pitted him against Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Dato Sri Dr James Masing by using “innuendoes”.
“How can they instigate, making people to think that I and Dato Sri James (Masing) are now quarrelling? They also expect me and Dr James to quarrel by suggesting that we have some differences.
“They should know that it was I who had proposed to the BN that Dr James should become the director of operations in the Batang Ai by-election campaign. How can I be going against him then?” he asked at a press conference in his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya here yesterday.
He said contents of the bloggers’ information had no quality when they could only ‘sabong’ people hoping that others would turn against the BN.
Jabu advised people not to read too much into the blogs but to be wise when analysing facts and figures.
People should not be hoodwinked by the bloggers’ “cooked-up stories”, he advised.
On another topic, Jabu said Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud had never promised any newly elected assemblyman, the post of minister or assistant minister even when there were vacancies.
He said that was not Taib’s style of leadership because he wanted assemblymen to prove themselves first and foremost.
Normally Taib would observed them closely and if he thought that they were good enough, only then he would decide to make them ministers or assistant ministers, Jabu said.
He was responding to a query whether Mussen would join the state cabinet automatically if he wins the by-election, taking into account his credentials.
The question cropped up because Mussen would be filling into the shoes of the former Batang Ai incumbent, the late Datuk Dublin Unting Ingkot who held two portfolios, namely Assistant Minister of Sports and Assistant Minister of Agriculture.
